Festiv for AI assistants

Festiv runs a public Model Context Protocol (MCP) server so an AI assistant can look up real venue data for Malaysia while you chat — restaurants, cafés, bars, wellness, entertainment and things to do, with Google ratings, opening hours, price ranges, halal status, menus and booking links.

It is read-only, needs no login, and serves only public venue data.

Transport: Streamable HTTP. No API key, no account. Responses are plain JSON the assistant reads back to you; every venue includes a link to its Festiv page.

Tools

  • search_venues — Find venues by text, area, category, cuisine, price, open-now and the dietary filters described below.
  • get_venue — Everything public about one venue: hours, rating, price range, menu and services, partner links, accolades.
  • find_things_to_do — Experiences and activities — dates, prices, venue — filtered by area, date and kind.
  • recommend_picks — A ranked shortlist for an occasion, group, budget and area, each with a plain-language reason.
  • get_best_of — The current best-of guides (by category and area), ranked from Google ratings weighted by review volume.
  • list_areas — The area and city names the other tools accept as location inputs.
  • get_awards — Venues holding recognised accolades (MICHELIN, Bib Gourmand, 50 Best and others) with the year.

Dietary filters on search_venues: halal=true returns only venues with a verified halal certificate on record, so it is a narrow filter. For dietary needs use no_pork_menu and no_alcohol_menu instead — these are menu observations, taken from the venue’s published menu, and every result carries a provenance note saying so. They are not a halal status.

Data and fair use

Ratings and review counts come from Google reviews and are refreshed regularly. A venue is marked halal only when it holds a certification; otherwise the field is absent. No photos are served through the tools. Rate limits: 300 requests per minute per assistant, 120 requests per minute per IP address (burst 40). Responses are cached for up to 5 minutes; open-now results for 1 minute. These limits keep the service fast for everyone; bulk copying of the data is not permitted (see the terms of use).
